by EC/CSE staff:
- Links to Online Dataset Collections:
this page provides a list of online
datasets and related resources categorized by discipline, with a
brief description of their sources and purpose.
- Prototype
Video Captioning Service: Video captioning is becoming an important
component of a fully accessible web site serving digital video content
for university curriculum. Explore this new exciting tool that allows
you to import a digital video and accompanying transcript and output
a QuickTime Text Track for subsequent merging with the digital video.
- 3D
Watersheds: This is a set of interactive 3D flythroughs of the
seven San Diego County Watersheds developed as a demonstration of web-based
3D modeling and visualization for educational purposes. These modules
were presented at Siggraph 2003 in San Diego.
- CS575
Visualization Lecture: This is a lecture given annually
by ECCSE Staff Scientist Jeff Sale to students in ECCSE Director Kris
Stewart's CS575-Supercomputing in the Sciences course.
- Visualization
for Education: This is a document derived from the CS575
Lecture, intended to serve as a resource for users interested in educational
applications of visualization resources
- Problem Solving Environment (PSE)
Airshed Model Manual (Edcenter can provide
the software package CD)

Tools
for analysis of Network performance available from the following organizations:
NLANR
Tools for analysising network traffic:
- Cichlid
- Cichlid is a visualization
tool for rapidly visualizing arbitrary data sets in high-quality 3D,
while allowing the viewer to explore and interact with the data sets
in real time. It was designed with remote data generation and machine
independence in mind; data is transmitted via TCP from any number of
sources (data servers) to the visualization code (the client), which
displays them concurrently.
- TCPtune
- It is used to let
the host support and utilize extensions to basic TCP/IP.So the host
can take advantage of today's high speed networks.
CAIDA
Tools for analysis of network performance:
- Otter
- Otter is a new
CAIDA tool for visualizing arbitrary network data that can be expressed
as a set of nodes, links or paths.
- Mantra
- It is a tool for
Visualizating the Internet multicast infrastructure.
