What are Digital Libraries ?

Digital Libraries are storehouses of information available throughout the Internet that provide ways to collect, store, and organize data and make it available for searching, retrieval, and processing. Major applications of digital library research and technology include education, science, commerce, medicine, and the arts. Digital Libraries are a critical component of the emerging "distributed knowledge environments" that eventually will provide access to virtually all areas of human knowledge. Some digital libraries have been built across the world and they are accessible to the public.  NPACI takes the leading role in providing integration technology  for digital libraries ( SDSCStanford U. ) as well as building digital libraries (Berkeley, UCSB and U. of Michigan).

We collect some links relevant to digital libraries and their impact on undergraduate education. It consists of three parts:

1) Access to Digital Libraries - links to digital library sites and using digital libraries in undergraduate education

2) Online Search Engine - links to some search engines to find quality information via Internet for higher education. Research on searching information via internet is usually part of digital library projects.

3) Software and Tool - links to some software and tools developed in digital library projects.
