Answer(or question to Mentor): 1) She has ingested 16.5 percent of her daily intake. To get the answer I added up the total number of calories in the cheeseburger (330) and divided that amount into 2000. Then I converted the result into a percentage.
2) 38.18 percent. 126 over 330 converted to a percentage.
3) The answer to the challenge question is: There were 36 nuggets in the bucket to begin with. I got my answer by drawing a diagram. Because Miles ate half of what was left and passed 3 McNuggets back to Lani, he ate 3 McNuggets. Since each of the fractions could be divided into evenly into12 I made it 12 units of 3. Ralph ate 4 units, Juan ate 6 units, Miles ate 1 unit and passed 1 unit back to Lani.

Congratulations on getting the correct answer. Your explanation is very understandable. In part two of question one what is the 38.18 percent referring to? Your explanation to the challenge problem shows good thinking. Keep up the good work.

Wow! what an amazing student. I would be even clearer to say that she got all of the answers correct, and all of her explanations are very clear. I am not sure what else might be said to explain the 38.18 percent. If you think it could be clearer, then go ahead, maybe I am missing something, but I think her answer is sufficient. Why don't you come up with an even more challenging problem for her like we did in class where there are additive and multiplicative parts to it?--Dr. Bowers

Congratulations on getting all the correct answers. Your explanations are very understandable. Also, your explanation to the challenge problem shows good thinking. Try figuring out this problem. It is similar to the challenge problem.
Bad Bargle sneadked into Homer's pigeon loft oneday. He took half of the pigons. He decided that wasn't bad enough, so he took one more and left. Later, Homer opened the door of the loft to exercise his prize possessions. half of the remaining flock flew out, leaving six inside the pen. How many pigeons did Homer have before Bad Bargle did his dirty deed?
Good luck!
