Answer(or question to Mentor): Sorry i haven't replied, Oscar. 2/3 is equal to 5. Half of 5 is 2.5 so 1/3 is 2.5. The total amount of the pole sticking out of the ground is 7.5. Therefore the entire pole is 10 ft. 3/4 of 7.5, the amount sticking out of the ground,is 5.625 ft. I got this by dividing 7.5 by 4 and multipling by 3. So my answer is: A.the storm surged 5.625 ft. and B. 1.875 was left dry.

Answer(or question to Mentor): Problem Solution: 1 gram of fat= 9 cal. 1 gram of carbohydrates= 4 cal. 1 gram of protein= 4 cal. 14 grams of fat, 36 grams of carbohydrates, and 15 grams of protein. So 14x9=126, 36x4=144, and 15x4=60. Then you add 126, 144, and 60. That gives you 330. The cheeseburger has 330 calories. 330 is 16.5% of 2000. 38%of the burger is fat.

Answer(or question to Mentor): Challenge: This is a problem that you do in reverse. There are 3 nuggets left. 3x2=6. I got this answer because 3 is half of the number before. 6x4=24. I got this answer because 6 is 1/4 of 24 and Juan ate 3/4. 24 is 2/3 of the bucket, so 12 is the remaining third. Add these and that's how you get 36, which is my answer.

I agree that his explanation for #1 is very straight forward, but he did not explain how he figured out that 38%of the burger is fat. This needs to be further explained-- and also ask him to explain how he converted the fractions or decimals into percents. Also, pleas praise him for his description of the challenge problem. It is nicely done. I will post it in the highlighted section. Since he did so well on this one, why don't you write another problem very much like the mint dish problem we did in class that involves both addition and fractions?

Congratulations you got both problems correct. You did a nice job with the challenge problem. However, I have a few questions for you on problem number one. How did you figure out that 38% of the burger was fat. and how did you convert fractios or decimal into percents. I am just curious about it.
