Good attempt at the problem but it is incorrect. You are correct that 7 1/2 feet of the pole are above ground level. So, 2 1/2 feet of the pole are underground. The total of the pole is 10 feet. Try drawing out this scenario. Maybe try cutting the pole into 4 sections. These hints should help you to find the answer. How did you get that none of the pole was dry? First, find the height of the storm surge above the ground. Second, Find how much of the stilt is still dry. Good luck and I look forward to your final answer, Erik.
