Answer(or question to Mentor): I think the lightning is about 6 miles away. If it takes 5 seconds to travel 1 mile than it would travel about 6 miles after 32 seconds, because 5 seconds will go into 30 and since that’s about 32 it would be a little bit farter away than 6 miles.

This is a good start. Your thinking here is headed in the right direction. I am wondering why you decided to use the number 30 instead of 32, which was given. Where did that extra 2 go? Try this problem again using the number 32 this time. (Think about using a remainder and what a remainder means). I look forward to reading your revised response!

Good response. Why don't you also encourage him to do the challenge problem?

Your answer is exactly right! Can tell me what the remainder 2 stands for. As for the challenge questions, you have done a great job! Your answers are correct. Can you tell me why you used the numbers you did in solving the problems? Keep up the good work!
