Answer(or question to Mentor): Hey
This is Rachel and this is my answer to the problem¡K¡K. 6.4 miles or 6 miles and 2/5 of a mile. I got this because if you count by fives till you get to 30 and count how many fives there are you get the answer. I did this because it takes five seconds to go one mile. There were six fives so that would mean six miles. Then you have two seconds left and that is two seconds out of five seconds so that would 2/5. ok well I gtg bye ƒº

Instructor Comments: Angela,
First, you can ignore Rachel's newest note. The teacher did not understand our system and hence logged in using the admin code before I was able to read all of the mentor respones. So, the students were confused. However, I believe the teacher has explained the situation. Your response is just fine. Send as is. I would also nominate this student's answer as one to post.

Answer(or question to Mentor): Hey Angela!!!!!
The answer to the first challenge problem is 33,792. I got this because I knew 5,280ft = one mile so I multiplied that by six. I did this because six is how many times five goes into 32. When I did this I got 31,680. Then I had to take the two seconds and I divided it by five and you get 1,056. So you add it to 31,680 twice and you get the answer.
Well I gtg bye

Hi! Thank you for explaining why you made the steps that you did. You had a nice start on the challenge problem, but the answer was not correct. The correct answer is sound travels 1,056 feet per second. You actually had that as part of your answer! I'm glad that you tried part of the challenge problem and I look forward to seeing your answer for the next problem.
