Answer(or question to Mentor): Problem Solution: The lightning is 6.4 miles away. Problem Rationale: To find the distance I divided the time (32) by the speed (5) and got 6.4. I got my answer by using the formula Speed equals distance divided by time. What’s up Dawg! -Sally

Mentor Reply: Word up Sally! Your answer is one hundred percent right on. However, the formula you gave me is a little off. You said that Speed equals distance divided by time. What we are looking for is the distance, so what equation can you give me in order for me to get the distance as my answer?

I have never heard the expression "Word up"-- however, if this is common, go for it!
Good answer to an interesting submission. You may need to make it even clearer that she needs to revise her explanation in order to get credit for the problem. Also, encourage her to try the challenge problem.

Answer(or question to Mentor): Challenge Answer: Lightning strikes the earth 6000 times every minute, 360,000 times every hour, 8,640,000 times every day, either 259,200,000(30 days), 267,840,000(31 days), 241,820,000(28 days), or 250,560,000(29 days). There are 3,153,600,000 days in a 365-day year. There are 3,162,240,000 in a 366-day year. Challenge Rationale: For the forst question I did 60 times 100. Then for the second answer I did 60 times 60. For the third answer I got how many times lightning struck in one day and for the rest I just did 8460000 times the number of days in a week, month, and year. There are different answers for the year and month ones. -Hey dawg!-Sally
