Answer(or question to Mentor): PROBLEM SOLUTION: The lightning was 6.4 miles away. RATIONALE: I got it by dividing thirty-two by five. CHALLENGE SOLUTION: 1. 6,000 times per second 2. 36,000 times per second 3. 8,640,000 times per second 4. 60,480,000 times per second 5. 241,920,000 times per second 6. 2,903,040,000 times per second Rationale: I got the answer by taking 100 and multiplying it by the number of seconds.

Thanks for responding to the posted questions and the challenge problem.
I see you got 6.4 miles by dividing 32 by 5. Why did you choose to divide instead of multiplying? Regarding the challenge problem, you got the right answers and that is great! Can you explain how you came up with each of the numbers?
I'll be looking forward to your response again. Thanks,
Noemi

Instructor Comments: Noemi,
Good questioning on the rationale. However, her answer to the challenge questions are NOT correct. First, she did not answer #1. Second, all of her labels are times per second. Third, two of the numerical answers are incorrect. Please find these and tell her to revise.

I see you got 6.4 miles by dividing 32 by 5. Why did you choose to divide instead of multiplying? Regarding the challenge problem, I'd like to tell you you didn't answer question #1. Try checking back on what you have for #2 of the challenge problem which is really#2b. One other thing is that you label all the units

Try checking back on what you have for #2 of the challenge problem which is really#2b. One other thing is that you label all the units "times per second" and you need to use consistent units. Please submit the corrections and I'll be glad to help you. By the way Terrie, can you explain to me how you came up with each of the numbers for the challenge problem? I'll be looking forward to hearing from you.

Regarding the challenge problem, I'd like to tell you you didn't answer question #1. You wrote you answered question #2 which was really 2b. Please try to send me your calculations again okay? :-)
One other thing is that the challeng problem asks about how many time per second, minute, hour, etc. When you send your answers make sure you also include the units.
Hope to hear from you soon!
Noemi
