Answer(or question to Mentor): Hi my name is Kevin Heim! Nice to meet you!
Problem Solution: The lightning was 6.4 miles away.
Problem Rationale: If 5 sec„³ 1 mile then I can divide 32 seconds by 5 seconds which equals 6.4 miles.
Challenge solution: A: 100* 60 sec= 6,000 per min
B: 6,000*60 min=360,000 per hour
C: 360000*24=8,640000 per day
D: 8640000*7=60480000 per week
E: 60480000*4=241920000 per month
F: 241920000*12=2903040000 peryear

Mentor Reply: Hello Kevin,
Nice to meet you too! Congratulation! You got all the correct answer. Great job. But, there are few things I would like you to do. First, could you explain how did you got your answer? Why are you dividing 32/5?
For the challenge problem: Could you explain to how did you know to multiplying? What are the numbers (24,7,4, and 12) present?

Once again, your ideas are excellent, but your English needs to be perfect before we send this out. Here are my suggestions:
1.Congratulation should be CongratulationS (although not capitalized of course!)
2. You got all the correct answerS.
3. You wrote, "First, could you explain how did you got your answer?" I would make it clear that you mean the answer to the original question. Also, "did got" is incorrect grammar. Finally, I think it is clear HOW he got his answer: he told you that he divided. The question you are asking is whether he can explain WHY he divided. So, we are using the language of trying to explain to a friend. Thus, I would rewrite that sentence as, "First, your explanation to the original problem states that you divided 32 by 5. Can you explain why you chose to divide?"
4. You write, "Could you explain to how did you know to multiplying?" This is incorrect grammar. It should say, "Could you explain how you knew to multiply?"
5. You say, "What are the numbers (24,7,4, and 12) present?" This is incorrect grammar. It should say, "For example, when you are explaining your answer, try to include a description of what the numbers (24,7,4, and 12) represent."

Nice to meet you too! Congratulations! Your answers are correct, but on your answer, you did not explain why you chose to divide. Suppose that your friend did not understant this problem. Can you find a way to explain why you used division?
For the challenge problem: You told me that you multiply, however, your answers does not describe how you knew to multiply? For example, when you are explaining your answer, try to include a description of what the numbers ( 24, 7, 4, and 12 ) represent. I look forward to read your revisions.

Answer(or question to Mentor): Problem Rationale: I chose to divide because if 5 sec=1 mile then I have to find how many miles it travels in 32 seconds, and division is the best way to find that.
Challenge Rationale: Sorry, about that, I was in a hurry and forgot to label the following: the 24 stands for hours per day. The 7 stands for days per week. The 4 stands for weeks per month. The 12 stands for months per year. Again sorry about that.

Answer(or question to Mentor): I chose to multiply because I needed to find out how many times lightening strikes over a longer period than 1 second. The other choice was to add 100 to itself 59 times. Also, each second equals 1 group of 100 lightening strikes and becasue 1 minute = 60 seconds, there are 60 groups in 1 minute. So 60 groups of 100 lightening strikes = 60 * 100 = 6,000 strikes per minute.

Mentor Reply: Hello Kevin,
Thanks for the reply. I like the way you label your information for both problems. This way will help you keep track the different variable so you won’t be confuse. Great job! I am looking forward to read your next solution.
