Answer(or question to Mentor): Problem Solution: Lightning is 6.4 miles away after 32 seconds Rationale: I took 32 and divided it by how many seconds per mile. I got 6 and 2/5. Then to simplify you must divide 2.00 by 5 which is 4. Challenge Solution 1: Sound travels 1056 feet per second. Raionale: There are 5280 feet in one mile. So I divided the feet in a mile by the seconds sound travels in a mile. Challenge Solution 2:a. 6,000 b. 360,000 c. 8,640,000 d. 60,480,000 e. 181,440,000 f. 2,177,280,000 Rationale: Multiply each answer by the next amount. Like 24 hours in a day times how many minutes are in an hour.

Mentor Reply: Hi Emily,

I appreciate the time you spent answering the IMP questions through the computer. Your answer to the original question is correct. However, we are going to post some of the really clear explanations, so I was wondering if you could elaborate on why you divided.

Your answers to challenge questions # 1 and 2a,b,c,d, are correct. Unfortunately, your answers for challenge question number 2e and 2f are incorrect.

Please elaborate on your original question and revise your answers for challenge questions 2e and 2f. I am looking forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely, Maria Alvarez

Answer(or question to Mentor): I divided because I was turning a fraction into a whole number.
