Student's Name: Brass
Answer(or question to Mentor): The answer is 6 2/5 miles. The way I thought about it was since I knew that 5 seconds from lightning to thunder means that the storm is one mile away. So I divided 5 into 32 gettin 6 remainder 2 which is 6 and 2/5. The 2/5 means that it is 2/5 of another mile away. And the final answer is 6 2/5 miles.

Mentor Reply: Hi Brass,
Aside from getting the correct answer you gave a nice explanation. I like the way you explained that 2/5 means part of a mile. Since you got this problem correct can you try solving the challenge problem? Keep up the good work.
Sincerely, Andrea

Instructor Comments: Andrea, I would be even more direct by telling the student his answer is correct. I agree, the explanation should also be lauded. For example, "Congratulations! Your answer is correct, and you gave a nice explanation." This tells the student up front that the answer is correct. I agree, the explanation is excellent and would nominate this as one to be posted. Dr. Bowers
